some things I'd like to implement:

  - remote status queries via E-Mail
  - absolute path detection in NT version
  - show status related to acknowledged alarms with a special
    symbol
  - for framed pages: show status of pages in contents section
  - bswebalarm: allow users to manually raise an alarm
  - add a web management interface
  - add support for SUN's "virtual Adrian" SE package
  - add sound alerts
  - add a "SNMP" demon receiving SNMP traps 
  - reporting facilities (downtime of services, hosts, networks, etc.)
  - add logging of trend data
  - add a network 'scanner' helping in setting up adm/uxmon-net
